1. Deleting backed up data from your helixee

IN THE WEB APPLICATION:

If you want to delete files on your helixee, just select them and click on .

They will remain in your recycle bin for 30 days before they disappear. Beyond this period, they will be permanently deleted.

IN THE MOBILE APPLICATION:

To delete items:

Press the Selection button: .
Select the items.
Click on Delete.
The items will be permanently removed from your helixee.

2. Managing the recycle bin

IN THE WEB APPLICATION:

The files you have deleted from your helixee, are placed for 30 days in the « Recycle Bin » folder. Beyond this period, they will be permanently deleted.

You can access the Recycle Bin directly from the left menu by clicking on « Recycle Bin ».

You have the possibility of restoring elements. To do so, select them and click on Restore, they will be restored and filed in the respective categories (photos/videos/documents/music…).

IN THE MOBILE APPLICATION:

To delete items:

Press the Selection button: .
Select the items.
Click on Delete.
The items will be permanently removed from your helixee.

FOR MORE INFORMATION

A future update of the helixee mobile application will make it possible to restore the elements, as described in the the description of the deleting process in the computer application.

3. Recovering backed up data

1. Creating and modifying a sphere

What is a sphere?

A sphere is a collection of photos/doc/video that you want to aggregate under a sphere/album. You will then be able to share this sphere/album with whomever you want.

IN THE WEB APPLICATION:

On the homepage of the my.helixee.me platform, the section « Latest activity in my spheres » shows the last spheres you created or modified. You will find quick access to the sharing features on the left menu.

The « My Spheres » section in the side menu allows you to do this:

Access a chronological view of the activity of the spheres with the Activity feed.
View all your shared files by clicking on All your spheres.
To create a new sphere, by clicking on the button Add a sphere.

To create a sphere:

In the left menu, in the « My Sphere » section, click on the button Add a sphere.
A window appears, enter the name of the sphere and click on the Validate button.

To change the name of a sphere:

Click on at the top right,
Change the name of your sphere,
Click on Validate

To modify the content of a sphere:

Click on your sphere,
Then on See more at the top right of your sphere
Click on Select
And click on the pictures to remove from the sphere.

To delete a sphere:

Click on your sphere,
Click on and then on Delete
You will need to then confirm the Sphere deletion

IN THE MOBILE APPLICATION:

To create a sphere:

Open the menu and click on My Spheres
click on the New Sphere button
Enter the name of the sphere then Validate

To modify and delete a sphere :

Click on the sphere and click on .
You can change the name and Validate or Delete the sphere.

2. Adding and removing files in a sphere

IN THE WEB APPLICATION:

To add files in a sphere:

Click in the left menu on the category you want to share, for example, »photos » or « videos ».
Click on the green Select button at the top right
At this point, you have 2 ways to select your items:
1. By date: All items corresponding to a specific date are selected
2. One by one: Click on each element you want to incorporate in your sphere
To add them to a sphere, just click on Add to a sphere.
A window opens and you can select a sphere that has already been created or create a new one.
A window appears then, enter the name of the sphere and click on the Confirm button.

IN THE MOBILE APPLICATION:

To add files in a sphere:

- Go to My data by clicking on , and choose the file type you want to add in a sphere.
- Click on the icon, check boxes appear on the different files available. Check the ones you want to share in the sphere.
- To add them to a sphere, click on the icon.

- - To add them to an existing sphere, click on the sphere of your choice. A message informs you that the items have been added to the sphere.
  - You can, then, either choose View sphere or Continue selection.

- If you want to add them to New Sphere, click on New Sphere.
- Give your sphere a name and then Create the sphere.
- Click on your newly created sphere: A message informs you that the elements have been added to the sphere.
- You can, then, either choose View sphere or Continue selection.

3. Inviting and deleting users into a sphere

IN THE WEB APPLICATION:

To invite a person to consult your sphere:

Click in the side menu on All my spheres
Choose the sphere and open it by clicking on it
Then click on at the top of your screen
Choose a person already invited on the helixee by clicking on their name.
Or add their email address and press Send. Your invitation is sent.
A green notification will confirm that your invitation has been sent.

To accept an invitation, consult « Accepting an invitation to have access to a helixee ».

To delete a person you invited to your sphere:

Select the sphere in question.
Then click on at the top of your screen
People who have access to your sphere appear in blue.
To cancel their access to your sphere, press their name, which will then turn white.
Click on Validate.
If you want to invite them again, click on their name. It will change to blue again.

IN THE MOBILE APPLICATION:

To invite a person to consult your sphere:

Click on , then My Spheres
Choose the sphere and open it by clicking on it
Then click on at the top of your screen
Choose a person already invited on the helixee by clicking on their name.
Or add their email address and press Send. Your invitation is sent.
A green notification will confirm that your invitation has been sent.

To accept an invitation, consult « Accepting an invitation to have access to a helixee ».

To delete a person you invited to your sphere:

Select the sphere in question.
Then click on at the top of your screen
People who have access to your sphere appear in blue.

Click on Validate.
If you want to invite them again, click on their name. It will change to blue again.

4. Consulting the activity feed

What is Activity Feed used for?

The activity feed allows you to see all the activity in your spheres while seeing, also, the activity in the spheres which were shared with you.

IN THE WEB APPLICATION:

Accessing the Activity feed, simply click on Activity feed in the side menu.

Each block represents an addition to a sphere, if the block contains too many elements, only the first ones will be displayed. To see the other elements click on See all elements.

IN THE MOBILE APPLICATION:

Open the menu , and click on My spheres.
Click on Activity feed at the top of the screen.

5. Consulting your spheres

IN THE WEB APPLICATION:

To see the content of the spheres:

In the side menu click on All spheres.
Select a sphere.
Click on See more at the top right of the white block.
Click the Display button to select different media types.

IN THE MOBILE APPLICATION:

To see the content of the spheres:

Open the menu, and click on My Spheres
Click on a sphere to open it.

6. Liking and adding comments to data present in a sphere

IN THE WEB AND MOBILE APPLICATION:

When you are in the heading Activity feed, you have the possibility to like or comment blocks of elements.

To like a photo, you can click on Like

To add a comment, click on Comment, enter your message next to your icon and validate by clicking on Send.

FOR MORE INFORMATION

Today, you can only like and add comment to blocks, but soon you will be able to like and add comments to individual photos!

1. Search and filter files

To view specific items, to delete or share them, you can filter your data using the « filter » function.

In the helixee online application my.helixee.me (in a web browser)

Click on « by files » on the left menu, and select a data type, « photos » for example.

All your photos are displayed and grouped by date (from most recent to oldest).

If you hover the mouse over a photo, 2 icons will appear:

The arrow to download your photo if you are in local connection.(it will be soon possible to remotely download the photo you select)

To select multiple elements you can either:

Click on the Select items button, and click one by one on the elements.
Select directly by date group, by clicking on the checkbox to the left of the date.

3 types of actions are possible :

Delete the selection by clicking on the button
Add the selection to a sphere by clicking on the button , and your photos will be duplicated in a sphere and will also remain available and visible in this shortcut.
Cancel to exit selection mode

You can also view your photos per month, per year, per file type, per device, by clicking on the filter button in the top bar.

You also have the option of selecting the display mode of the elements, either in grid mode, or in list mode, by clicking on buttons and .
If you are in list mode , you will be able to display your photos either from the most recent to the oldest ones or from the oldest to the most recent ones.

In the helixee mobile application:

You can choose to view a selection of items: click on « my data », click in one of the categories, e.g. « photos » to display filters, click on the icon (located at the top right).

The filters screen appears, you can select by device, by date (month and year) or by extension of the files you are looking for.

Then click on the Validate button

If you want to delete items:

Click on the checkbox at the top right and select your photos to be deleted then click on to delete them.

2. Shortcuts by file category

WHAT IS A SHORTCUT?

A shortcut is a type of saved item. helixee will identify them and classify photos under photos, documents under documents, and so on.

In the helixee online application my.helixee.me (in a web browser)

In the online application my.helixee.me, your files are sorted by type (photos, videos, contacts, documents, music, e-mail)

These shortcuts are visible in the side menu on the left under « By files »

In the helixee mobile application:

From the helixee homepage at the bottom of your screen, you can directly access the shortcuts available: photos, videos, contacts, documents, music, E-Mails, etc.

From the side menu , click on My data, you will find all the categories previously mentioned.

3. Your saved folders

In the online helixee application my.helixee.me (from a web browser):

In the MY DATA section of the side menu, files are accessible via 3 paths :

By Devices: All devices that were used to save data are available on this page, when selecting a device, you will find the original device tree.
By files: All the files present on your helixee are classified by file types (photos, videos, etc).
My drop zone : The drop zone allows you to save and file your files directly from the web application my.helixee.me

In the helixee application for mobile:

From the home page,

Display the side menu by clicking on the icon at the top left.
Go to the My Data section.

Your files are accessible via 3 paths:

Categories: All files on your helixee are sorted by file type (photos, videos, etc).
Devices: All the devices that were used to save data are available on this page, when selecting a device, you will find the original device tree.

An upcoming update will allow similar access to files like on the online application.

4. Notifications

WHAT ARE NOTIFICATIONS ?

They are linked to data sharing activities via spheres. If you share a sphere with friends and add comments to it, you will receive notifications of any comment they add to the sphere.

In the helixee online application my.helixee.me (in a web browser)

On the side menu, to the right of your name, click on the bell to display the notifications received. You can mark them as « all read » to receive only the last received unread notifications.

In the helixee mobile application:

Click on the 3 bars at the top left of the screen to return to the « my account » screen on a black background.
click on « My notifications »: they will appear in chronological order.

FOR MORE INFORMATION

If you have unread notifications, a red button will appear to notify you. Once you have marked everything as read, the red button will disappear.

Starting your backup process

1. Backing up folders from the helixee application installed on my computer

Once you are connected to the same network as your helixee (by cable or by Wi-Fi), you can launch your helixee desktop application.

Log to the helixee to which you want to save data.
Click on « Backup ».
On this page, you can add folders containing the files you want to back up. To do this, click on the button « Add a folder » (see the picture).
A dialog window opens, go to the tree structure of your computer, until you select the desired folder, then click on « Open ».
The folder is then added to the queue.
Select the check box « Backup enabled » on the left below the percentage, then the transfer can start.

At the end of a transfer, you can delete the folder, by clicking on the red cross, the files will not be deleted from the helixee.
But this folder will no longer be automatically updated by helixee.

To cancel a transfer, click on the red cross .
To add another folder, click on the button Add folder.

WARNING !

The first backups will take additional time because helixee will encrypt your data while backing it up.

GOOD PRACTICE

The folders that you have added to the waiting list are continuously monitored when your helixee application is opened (helixee checks about every hour): if you add a new item to your helixee monitored folder, it will be automatically backed up.

2. Backing up folders from my.helixee.me thanks to the DropZone

WHAT IS MY DROP ZONE ON MY HELIXEE HARD DRIVE FOR?

This new section allows you to « drag and drop » files from a computer with a simple web browser, whether you are at home or remotely.

You can also create folders to store your data. The « Drop Zone » acts as a folder that you would have saved from your computer, with the PC/Mac application.

WARNING !

If you delete files from the « Drop Zone », those files are deleted from your helixee.
Note that when you delete files, they are temporarily stored in the Trash of the helixee (at the bottom of the main menu), for 30 days. After this period, they are permanently deleted.
Before the end of the delay, you can still restore them, if you wish.
You can also empty the recycle bin on demand by making « Select all » and « Delete permanently »

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE « DROPZONE » AND « I SAVE », WHITCH IS EASIER TO USE?

Use the Drop Zone for fast local and remote file drop. There is no file monitoring, no automatic backup. With the desktop helixee application, any folders you add in the « I backup » section will be monitored and backed up automatically.

3. Backing up your data from your smatphone or tablet

To make your first backup of your iOS or Android device data (smartphone or tablet):

Open the helixee application
You will answer the following questions:

Do you want to allow helixee to send you notifications ? Notifications can include alerts, sounds, and icon tags.
You can configure them in the Settings (of your device).
We advise you to allow these alerts, in order to receive notifications related to spheres sharing, as well as the activity on your helixee.

Then press « Login« ,
Other permissions will be displayed:

helixee would like to access your photos: helixee would like to access your photos and videos to be able to save them.
Click « OK » if you want to save your photos and videos.
helixee would like to access your contacts: helixee would like to access your contacts in order to save them.
Click « OK » if you want to save your contacts.

NOTE : You will be able to change your mind in the application settings.

LOG IN

Then to log into your helixee, enter the authentication information you entered when creating your account.
If you have forgot them, please refer to the confirmation email sent to you at the end of registration, with the subject line: »helixee – Installation confirmation of « XXX » ».
It will provide:

The name of your helixee
Your email address
Your password

TIP !

Before validating the login form, verify the accuracy of your password by clicking on the eye . This can help you avoid typing errors.

Once you have entered all your information,

Check the box « Remember me« , this will prevent you from entering this information each time you log in,
Click on the « OK » button to finalize.

You will then arrive on the home page, from this page you have access to:

To the backup-ready files: video photos and contact ready to be backed up
To your spheres: the items you want to share will be in these folders
To the « My helixee » section: shortcuts to your data sorted by type.

STARTING YOUR FIRST BACKUP

From the home page, press the button : « See the new elements to back up ». The helixee application will scan your device and detect new data.
From any page of the application, access this section from the main menu by clicking on the icon, then the « to backup » section.

You can view all the new data (photos, videos and contacts) and start a backup by pressing the « Save » button.
By default, the backup of your data is in « Manual » mode. This means that you have to start a backup manually to back up your data on your helixee.
To set up an automatic backup or change the backup mode from your device, go to the helixee application:

Open the main menu by clicking on the icon, then « Settings ».
In the « Backup Types » tab, press the Manual button in front of « Picture Backup »,« Video Backup » and « Contact Backup » to select a manual, automatic or « Do not backup ».

WARNING !

To back up data, ensure that your device is connected to the same network as the one helixee is connected to.
When you make your first backup or when you have a lot of data to back up, the backup time can take longer.

You can stop the backup at any time by pressing « Stop » and resume it later.

To automatically back up the data on your iOS device, you must enable automatic backup.

4. Setting up an automatic backup

To set up an automatic backup of your Mac or Windows computer

Go to the helixee application on your computer
Click Backup from the main menu and then click Add Folder
In the window that opens, choose a folder you want to save and click Select a folder

Once you have added all the folders you want to backup, you can close the helixee application window. It will run in the background to back up your data. Backing up your data is automatic. Folder scans are done every hour. Once you have selected the folders you want to back up and enabled backup, everything is in place, no further action is required.

WARNING !

Your computer must be connected to the same network as your helixee or directly to the helixee Wi-Fi Hotspot in order to be able to do your back-up.

To set up an automatic backup of your iOS or Android device

By default, the backup of your data is in « Manual » mode. This means that you have to start a backup manually to back up your data on your helixee.

To make your first backup of your iOS or Android device data (smartphone or tablet):

Open the main menu and press Settings
In the « General » tab, press the Manual button in front of « Picture Backup »,« Video Backup » and « Contact Backup » to select a manual, automatic or do not backup.

LOG IN

Then go to the helixee application from your iOS device
Open the main menu and press Save. The helixee application will scan your device and detect new data.
By default, you can view all the new data (pictures, videos and contacts) and start a backup by pressing Save.

WARNING !

To back up data, make sure your device is connected to the Internet via a Wi-Fi network.

GOOD PRACTICE

When you make your first backup or when you have a lot of data to back up, the backup time may be long. You can stop the backup at any time by pressing « Stop » and resume it later.
To automatically back up the data on your iOS device, you must enable automatic backup.

How to use applications

1. Logging in

Thank you for installing the helixee application. During this installation, helixee has created a shortcut icon on your desktop.

ON YOUR PC/MAC DESKTOP COMPUTER

1. To open the helixee app on your computer, double-click on the helixee icon that was created on your desktop, or on the helixee icon in your list of applications.

2. To log in to your helixee, enter your user account information (below) and click Sign in :

The name of your helixee
Your email address
Your password

IN A WEB BROWSER

1. To open the online helixee app, go to my.helixee.me

2. To log in to your helixee, enter the information for your user account and click Sign in :

The name of your helixee
Your email address
Your password

ON YOUR IPHONE OR ANDROID

1. To open the helixee app on your smartphone or tablet, click on the helixee app icon that was added to your other apps.
2. The application opens with a presentation of the different helixee features. To sign in, click on the Sign In button.
3. To log in to your helixee, enter your user account information (below) and click OK :

The name of your helixee
Your email address
Your password

TIP

You can decide if the helixee application displays notifications on your device like when a user interacts with your sharing sphere.

IMPORTANT !

In order for the app to back up your mobile device’s content, you must allow the helixee app to access your photos, videos, and contacts, otherwise it will not be able to back up these items.

2. Overview of the helixee application for mobile and tablet

The helixee mobile application allows you to automatically and wirelessly back up the data from your mobile devices (smartphone or tablet).

You can share your content securely, with whomever you want, by creating private spheres on your helixee.
You can access remotely from all your devices or from an internet browser the data that has been saved to your helixee. Using an internet browse will require your access codes.

Once your data is saved on your helixee, it is automatically stored by device, type and date.

3. Overview of the helixee application for computers

With the helixee desktop application, you will be able to back up the data stored on your computer.

To launch the application, click the « helixee » icon in your applications folder, or the shortcut on your desktop.
Log in, to the helixee you want to use as a backup device, using your personal username and password.

The desktop application allows you to transfer to helixee the elements contained in the folders of the computer. Folders containing music, videos, documents, contact files can be transfered onto helixee.

On the desktop application’s home page, you can access the online helixee app my.helixee.me by clicking on the « see my data » button.

WARNING !

You must be on the same network as helixee:

If helixee is connected to your internet box, you need to connect internet box network, either by a cable connection or Wi-Fi
If you are away from an Internet connexion and have taken helixee with you, you need connect to helixee using the wifi network it has created.

4. Overview of online helixee application my.helixee.me

From the online helixee app my.helixee.me , you can log to your helixee to view your saved data, but also log on helixee’s to which you have been invited.

To do this, launch a web browser (ex chrome / safari / firefox), and type in the address bar my.helixee.me. The authentification page will be displayed: type in your login details

The name of your helixee
Your email address
Your password

At your first login, a message will suggest you to browse through the different features, and help links.

The left menu, on a blue background, is divided into several parts:

My account settings: access them by clicking on your name.
My data: Find your data sorted by device, by file type or available in your Dropzone.
My spheres: Consult the content and activity feed of your spheres
[Available soon] My safe: Duplicate your helixee data in a secure remote safe

Manage users

1. User roles

Owner :
The owner is the person who installed the helixee. This role cannot be transferred to another person. He is the only one who can invite new users and manage everyone’s rights.

User :
Users can backup data on the helixee within the space limit defined by the owner. It can create sharing spheres and interact with other users.

Guest :
The guest cannot backup data on the helixee, but can consult and interact in the areas to which other users have invited him.

2. Adding user to your helixee

To invite a new user to your helixee, go on my.helixee.me.

In the side menu, click on Add a new user
Enter the email address of the new user
Choose a role for the new user
Click on Validate

Users have the possibility to suggest users to the owner on the « User Account » page.
The owner can access the suggested new users on this same page. He then has the choice of inviting him or her or refusing the invitation.

3. Managing users

To manage the users of your helixee go to the « User accounts » page of the web application my.helixee.me.

Capacity bar :
The capacity bar allows you to have an overview of the disk space usage of your helixee.

Users list :
The user list lists all the people on your helixee. You can directly manage the space assigned to each user, modify their role or block the account.

Sent invitations :
Invitations sent and awaiting acceptance by the new user are kept for 2 weeks in this list before being automatically cancelled. You can return an invitation or cancel it.

User suggestions :
Users can suggest new users to the owner by providing their name, first name and email address. The owner can then invite him or her or refuse the invitation.

4. Managing quotas

Each User of the helixee has a storage space defined by the owner.
The size of this space is 5 GB by default, however the owner can change it at any time.

Important !

If the owner allocates a smaller quota than the data already on the account, the user will no longer be able to add data, but the excess will still be available.

5. Blocking a user

You can restrict a user’s access in 3 ways:

Reduce your quota:
By reducing a user’s quota to 0 GB, they will no longer be able to add data to their account, they will still have access to their data and will be able to create and share spheres.
Change the role:
By changing a user to « Guest », you block access to his data, he will only be able to consult and interact with the spheres to which he is invited.
However, his data is not deleted from the helixee, so when you give him back the « User » rights he will have access to all his data.
Disable the account:
In the user list, checking the « Inactive » box will block the user’s access to the helixee. All his data is kept, he will be able to find them as soon as the access is granted again by the owner.

6. Accepting an invitation to a helixee

You have received an invitation to join a helixee or a sphere in your mailbox, to accept the invitation :

You already have an account:

Click on the Log in button in the invitation mail.
On the login page, enter information:
- helixee’s name : Name of the helixee on which you are invited.
- E-mail address : the e-mail address of your helixee account.
- Password : Your account password.

You do not have a helixee account:

Click on the button Create an account in the invitation email.
Fill in your personal information.
Set a password for your account.

For more details on how to create an account, see this chapter.

WARNING !

You must accept the invitation within 2 weeks. After this period it is necessary to be sent a new invitation.

Account settings

1. Add/change your profile picture

To edit your profile photo, go to my.helixee.me, then click on your name to bring up the drop-down menu..

Then click on « my profile ».

Click on underneath your profile photo, and choose an image on your computer.

2. Change your name, first name and password

If you have forgotten your password :

Launch an Internet browser, and go to the online application my.helixee.me
On the login page, underneath the green « ok » button is the link « I forgot my password ».
Click on it and follow the instructions

If you wish to change your password :

Launch an Internet browser, and go to the online application my.helixee.me
Click on your name from the main menu (top left) then on « My Profile »
Enter your new password in the « New Password » field.
Confirm your new password in the « Confirmation » field.
Confirm with your current password.
Click on the « Save » button

3. Manage devices attached to your account

The « My Devices » page shows all the devices used to save data on your helixee.

To access the list of your devices:

Launch an Internet browser, and go to the online application my.helixee.me
In the drop-down menu, click on « My Devices ».

To change device names:

At the top right of the device you want to change, click on the button
Change the Alias field
Click on Validate

To delete devices:

For the moment, you can only disable a device, i.e. it will no longer have access to your data on the different applications (online and mobile) but it will not be deleted. This feature will be soon developed.
To deactivate a device, follow these steps:

At the top right of the device you want to change, click on the button
Under the drop-down menu « type », uncheck the checkbox « enabled »
Click on Validate

1. Informations about your helixee

To get information about your helixee, log in to your helixee via the my.helixee.me interface :

To do so, follow these steps:

Launch a web browser (chrome / safari…), in the address bar, type my.helixee.me.
Authenticate yourself: enter your identifiers (name of the helixee / your mail / your password)
In the left menu, click on your name, a drop-down menu appears, click on « My helixee ».

In the central area you will have access to useful information about your device:

helixee: Name of your helixee, type and quantity of data stored.
Hard drive: Model of your helixee, available and used space on your helixee.
Network: Wired and Wifi Network addresses of your helixee.
System: Version and serial number of your helixee .
Personal data: Details of the data saved in your space on this helixee.

IMPORTANT !

The information provided about your helixee include all user accounts combined.

2. Connection status of your helixee

helixee can be connected in 2 different ways:

Connected directly via RJ45 / Ethernet cable (you can use the cable provided in the box)
In Wi-Fi, allowing you to place helixee anywhere you want

Without internet access, helixee creates its own Wi-Fi network. This feature is also called « hotspot ». Thanks to this possibility, you can continue to back up, share or view your data.

The helixee Wi-Fi Hotspot. What are the benefits? (blue LED)

When helixee triggers its access point, it is because it has not been able to connect to your Internet box in WiFi and/or because its network cable is not connected. In this mode, helixee generates its own Wi-Fi network, allowing each connected device to network and access helixee.

IMPORTANT

None of the connected devices will have Internet, since helixee will create a Wi-Fi network without Internet access.

3. Connect helixee to your Internet router through Wi-Fi

Using the online application my.helixee.me :

Click on your name from the side menu (top left), then on Network Configuration
Click on the + Add button.
Enter the name of your Wi-Fi network and its password (you will find its information on the label of your Box) check the « Allowed » box then click on the button Add
After returning to network list, click on the button next to the name of your Wi-Fi network.
A pop-up message informs you that you will connect helixee in Wi-Fi mode to your internet box.
Click on the green Connect button
After clicking the button, the helixee’s LED will turn purple to indicate that it is trying to connect to the selected network.
When the Wi-Fi connection is established (green popup), disconnect the RJ45 Ethernet network cable and then restart your helixee by unplugging its power cable.

FOR MORE INFORMATION !

If the LED stays blue after disconnecting the RJ45 Ethernet network cable, then reconnect the cable and start again by clicking on the button next to your Wi-Fi network.
If helixee still does not connect to Wi-Fi (green LED), restart your internet box.
If, despite all these manipulations, you still can’t connect, contact support for assistance.

From the iOS and Android application:

Open the main menu and press Network Configuration
Click on the + Add button.
Enter the name of your Wi-Fi network and its password (you will find its information on the label of your Box) check the « Allowed » box then click on the button Add
After returning to network list, click on the button next to the name of your Wi-Fi network.
When the Wi-Fi connection is established (green popup), disconnect the RJ45 Ethernet network cable and then restart your helixee by unplugging its power cable.

4. Turn on helixee Wi-Fi hotspot

The helixee Wi-Fi Hotspot (blue LED). When and how to use…?

On the other hand, none of the connected devices will have Internet, since helixee will create a WiFi network without Internet access.

Using the online application my.helixee.me :

Click on your name in the main menu (top left), then on Network configuration
Click on the button opposite the name of your helixee.
Click « Turn on Access Point » and then click Close.
You must now connect directly to the Wi-Fi network of your helixee.

From the iOS and Android application:

Open the main menu and press Network configuration
Click on the button opposite the name of your helixee.
Click « Turn on Access Point » and then click Close.
You must now connect directly to the Wi-Fi network of your helixee.

After clicking on the button below, the helixee LED will turn purple to indicate that helixee is creating an access point. The name of the helixee access point is the same as that of helixee.

Once the treatment is complete, the LED will turn on:

Blue if Wi-Fi access point is available.
Green if the connection failed and the network cable is currently plugged into the back of helixee. The LED remains green in this case, because helixee is always accessible on your network.
Green if the connection failed and you were connected to a Wi-Fi network. In this case, you will have to reconnect to this WiFi, in the settings of your device.

5. Return to a wired RJ45 network connection

To return to a wired connection, you must reconnect helixee to your internet box, using an RJ 45 cable. To do so:

1. Take the RJ45 cable supplied in the package
2. Connect the cable on one side to helixee and on the other to your internet box,
3. The LED will glow purple during the time it takes to reconnect.
4. After a few minutes, the LED will turn green.

You are now connected to a wired network.

6. Edit / Delete a network

On the « Network configuration » page, you will find a list of your Wi-Fi networks, several actions are possible:

: Enable or disable the Wi-Fi network.
: Change the Network Name and Password.
: Delete the network from your favorite network list.

Installation of helixee Smart Disk

1. To be read before starting helixee install process

IMPORTANT !

To install your helixee you must follow the installation process described here: Install helixee .

If you have a helixee already equipped with a built-in 1 or 2 TB hard disk, you can go directly at point number 3. If you have a ‘no drive’ helixee, go to step 2.

TIP

We strongly recommend using the Google Chrome browser to install your helixee.

2. helixee ‘no drive’: hard drive installation

Start by inserting your hard drive in helixee:

Ensure you have a 2.5 SATA2 internal hard disk drive as well as the protective frame provided in helixee’s box.
Position the protective frame around your hard drive, making sure that the circle on the top of the frame protrudes on the side of the hard disk’s label. Insert the four pins of the frame into the screw holes of the drive properly. hard.
Remove the cover of your helixee by turning it counterclockwise.
Insert the hard drive with its frame inside helixee by positioning the label side of the hard drive towards the front of your helixee (marking).
Put the cover back on your helixee by exerting a slight pressure and turning it clockwise until it is properly clipped.

The installation of the hard drive is complete, go to the next step.

WARNING !

If data is present on the hard disk, it will be lost during the installation process.

3. Connections

To properly connect your helixee, follow the steps below:

First, connect the network cable to your Internet box, then click Continue .
Then connect the power cable. After a few seconds, the indicator light will come on. When on, you can click Continue .

When all connections have been made, click Continue and go to the next step.

4. Creating your user account

If you already have a Novathings account, click the Sign In button in the left frame.
If you do not have one yet, create your account in the right frame:

Enter your name and surname.
Enter a valid email address. You will receive a summary email at the end of the installation.
Enter your birth date.
Select your home country.
Accept of the general conditions of useby ticking the acceptance box.

When you have filled in the fields correctly, click the Continue button and create your password.

IMPORTANT!

To increase the security of your account, your password must contain at least 10 characters, at least one capital letter, at least one digit, at least one special character and no more than two consecutive identical characters.

This follows the CNIL recommendations.

When your password meets all the requirements (a green check mark appears in front of each condition), click the Continue button, then go to the next step.

5. Updating your helixee

To continue the installation, you must enter the serial number of your helixee.

You will find this number:

On the helixee box, after S/N.
On the label under your helixee: the first 7 digits under Serial Number.

The next step checks the version of your helixee and updates your device if necessary. Updating your helixee can take up to 30 minutes.

Do not disconnect your helixee during this step!

Wait until the helixee is up to date and then continue to the next step.

6. Naming your helixee

1. Give your helixee a name, which will allow you to:

access your data remotely
to send data by email to your helixee.

2. When you are satisfied with the name you set for your helixee, click the Continuebutton.

3. Once you have successfully registered your helixee, keep in mind the information below it shall be important to have access to all the features of your helixee:

The name of your helixee : You will be asked to connect to your helixee.
Your email address : It will be used to connect to your helixee using your previously created password.
The email address of your helixee : You can save your important emails and attachments directly by transferring them to the email address of your helixee.

4. Click the Continue button to complete the installation of your helixee.

TIP

Information about your account and your helixee will also be sent to you by email!

7. Finalizing the installation

To get to know you better, kindly answer a few questions and click on theContinue button.
In order to complete the installation of your helixee, unplug and reconnect its power cable in order to restart it . When the indicator light turns green, click theContinue button.
The installation of your helixee is now complete. You can already connect to your helixee from the online helixee app my.helixee.me or go to the next step on how to download and install the helixee application on your computer or smartphone.

8. Downloading and installing the application

ON YOUR COMPUTER PC / MAC :

Go to the application download page: Applications page

To download the helixee application on your PC :

Click the Download button under the Windows icon.
Once the download is complete, locate the helixee.exe file and double-click it to start the installation.

To download the helixee application on your Mac :

Click the Download button below the Mac icon .
Once the download is complete, locate the helixee.dmg file and double-click it to open the installation window.
Drag and drop the helixee application icon into the Applications folder of your Mac.

IN THE MOBILE APPLICATION:

Go to the application download page: Applications page

To download the helixee app on your Android device :

Open Google Play on your Android device and search for « helixee »
Once on the helixee app page on Google Play, tap the Install button. The helixee application will, then, download and install automatically on your Android device. Once the installation is complete, the helixee application icon will appear with your other applications.

To download the helixee app to your iOS device :

Open App Store on your iOS device and search for « helixee »
Once on the helixee app page, tap the Get button. The helixee application will, then, download and install automatically on your iOS device. Once the installation is complete, the helixee application icon will appear with your other applications.

9. What to do in case of a connection problem?

If you have just installed your helixee and can’t connect with the mobile application, the PC / Mac application or the site my.helixee.me, and more generally, if you get the error messages:

All fields are mandatory
Incorrect password
Connection to helixee has been successful but your login or password is incorrect

Here’s what to do in 4 steps:

Step 1 – Verify that helixee is turned on and connected to your home network

Verify that the network cable supplied with helixee is connected on one side to helixee and the other to your internet box.
Check that the helixee’s indicator light is on and green.
- If the indicator light is off, this is a power supply problem. Check that the power cable is connected correctly.
- If the indicator light is blue, helixee is in access point mode and is not connected to your internet box’s network.
  Check that the network cable is correctly connected on one side to your helixee and on the other side to your internet box then restart helixee by unplugging and reconnecting its power cable.
  If the problem persists, try to change the network socket on your internet box and then restart helixee again.

Step 2 – Check that helixee is up to date with the latest version of its software

If left powered on, helixee automatically updates itself at startup and overnight.

Enter the serial number of your helixee in the text field below
and click on the validate button to know the version of your helixee:

Only enter the first 7 digits of the serial number in the field above.
It is located on the packaging , next to the word « S/N » and on the label located under helixee below « Serial Number ».

Step 3 – Download the latest version of the helixee application

To make sure you have the latest version of the helixee application, follow these steps:

On iPhone and iPad, remove the helixee app from your device, then download the app helixee on the App Store.
On Android, remove the helixee app from your device, then download the app helixee on Google Play.
On PC / Mac, remove the helixee application from your device, then download the application on our Applications page.
When using web application (the website my.helixee.me), purge your browser’s cache then reload the page.

Step 4 – Check your password

Use the eye icon on the password field to verify that the password entered is your user account password.
Use the link I forgot my password accessible at the bottom of the login form and follow the procedure.
